In a revealing conversation on Starr Fm’s Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy, popular Ghanaian MC and entertainment personality MC Portfolio shared striking insights about what he believes will be the most monumental event of this year’s Detty December season in Kumasi will be funeral of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba on December 13, 2025.
According to MC Portfolio, while December has always been packed with concerts, festivals, club experiences, and fan-favorite entertainment lineups, no single event will draw the level of attention, emotion, and nationwide participation expected from the funeral rites of the iconic musician’s family.
He emphasized that Daddy Lumba’s influence goes beyond music. For decades, the Highlife maestro has shaped Ghana’s cultural identity and inspired both seasoned musicians and emerging talents. MC Portfolio noted that any public event associated with the legendary singer naturally commands massive respect and huge crowds an influence unmatched by most entertainers today.
“Kumasi is already buzzing with December activities, but Lumba’s event will overshadow everything. It will be the biggest gathering, the biggest emotional moment, and the biggest cultural experience of the season,” he stated confidently on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy.
He further explained that the event will likely attract not just fans, but influential personalities in entertainment, politics, business, and traditional leadership transforming it into a major social and cultural convergence.
Charles Kwadwo Fosu, better known as Daddy Lumba, passed away on July 26, 2025, at age 61 after battling an undisclosed illness at Bank Hospital in Accra. His death triggered a wave of tributes through the music world, nationwide tributes.
