Michael B. Jordan is officially an Oscar winner.
The actor took home Best Actor at the 2026 Academy Awards for his dual performance as twins Smoke and Stack in Ryan Coogler’s supernatural drama “Sinners.”
Also nominated in the category were Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon,” Wagner Moura for “The Secret Agent,” and Leonardo DiCaprio for “One Battle After Another.” Still, Jordan’s immaculate performance in “Sinners” proved strong enough to pull the Academy’s votes.
The win also continues Jordan’s long creative partnership with director Ryan Coogler. “Sinners” marks their fifth film together after “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed,” and both “Black Panther“ films. Over the years, the duo has built one of Hollywood’s most consistent collaborations, with their projects collectively earning dozens of Academy Award nominations.
For Jordan, the moment carries extra weight. “Sinners” serves as his first Academy Award nomination and his first Oscar win. Throughout the 2026 awards season, his performance had already gained major attention, earning nominations at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Critics’ Choice Awards.
