Ghanaian socialite and business mogul Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, has been remanded into police custody following his appearance before the Gbese District Court.
Abu Trica appeared in court on Wednesday February 25, 2026, after being re-arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
The court ordered that he be held in custody and adjourned the case to March 18, 2026, when he is expected to return for further proceedings.
The latest development follows his re-arrest by NACOC shortly after he had earlier been discharged by the Gbese District Court together with his co-accused persons.
The initial discharge stemmed from proceedings linked to an indictment by United States authorities over an alleged $8 million romance scam said to have targeted elderly Americans. Abu Trica and others were accused of playing roles in the scheme, which drew international attention.
Details surrounding the basis for his re-arrest were not immediately disclosed in court. However, the case is expected to continue when proceedings resume next month.
Abu Trica remains in police custody pending his next court appearance.
