Albert Dwumfour re-elected GJA President

Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor has been re-elected as the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).

This was when more than 800 journalists in good standing went to the polls today to elect new national and regional officers to lead the Ghana Journalists Association association for the next three years.

There were a total of 12 candidates who battled for six available national executive positions, while 49 others contested for regional positions.

Charles Yao Mawusi, a late entrant in the race posed a threat to Albert Dwumfuor’s re-election bid at a time Albert thought it was almost concluded decision for a second term. Dwumfuor had to re-strategise his campaign with endorsements.

Rebecca Ekpe from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) was elected as the new Vice President beating Mary Mensah from Graphic Communications Group LTD. Rebecca Ekpe moved from the Public Affairs position to Vice President to take over from Linda Asante whose tenure has ended.

Suleiman Mustapha from Graphic Communications Group Ltd was elected as the new Organising Secretary with Zadok Kwame Gyesi coming up as the new Public Affairs Officer.

Suleiman Mustapha beat Maxwell Kudekor while Zadok Kwame Gyesi beat Caesar Abagali.
