Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey pleads not guilty to two further charges of rape

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey appeared before a London court on Monday, April 13, 2026, where he pleaded not guilty to two additional charges of rape.

The 32-year-old has already denied five counts of rape involving two women, as well as a separate charge of sexual assault relating to a third woman, with the alleged offences said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.

In the latest development, Partey faces two further rape charges connected to a fourth complainant, with the alleged incident dating back to December 2020. He entered not guilty pleas to the new charges during proceedings at Southwark Crown Court.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place during his time at Arsenal, whom he joined from Atletico Madrid in a 50 million euros move in 2020. Partey left the Premier League club last summer following the expiration of his contract and later signed for Spanish side Villarreal.

He has been released on bail ahead of his trial, which is scheduled to begin in November, although reports indicate it could be delayed.

Since his move to Villarreal, Partey has made 19 league appearances and featured five times in the Champions League, as he continues to work towards consistent form.

Despite his legal situation, the midfielder remains part of Ghana’s plans for the 2026 World Cup, where the Black Stars are set to face Panama, Croatia and England.
