Ghanaian fraud suspect ‘Dada Joe Remix’ extradited to US over multi-million dollar romance scam

The United States Diplomatic Service in Ghana, in partnership with Ghanaian authorities, have facilitated the extradition of Joseph Badu Boateng, popularly known as “Dada Joe Remix,” to the United States.

Boateng is accused of masterminding a multi-million dollar fraud ring that reportedly used romance and inheritance scams to defraud numerous victims across the U.S.

According to U.S. authorities, the elaborate scheme involved cultivating online relationships under false pretences, manipulating victims emotionally, and ultimately extorting large sums of money.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had been investigating the network for several years, identifying Boateng as a central figure. His extradition marks a key milestone in the U.S. Department of Justice’s broader efforts to combat cyber-enabled financial crimes originating from overseas.
