Lawyers for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have dismissed complaints by Akosua Serwah Fosu, the Germany-based wife of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, regarding his funeral and estate matters.
In a letter dated October 1, 2025, and signed by Fati Ali-Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, the legal team said Mrs Fosu had no authority to dictate how the family should conduct the late musician’s funeral.
The letter alleged that Mrs. Fosu abandoned Daddy Lumba about 15 years ago when he fell seriously ill, refusing to relocate to Ghana to care for him. It added that she later performed customary rites to dissolve the marriage—an act recognised under Akan tradition.
The family, the lawyers said, officially recognises Priscilla Ofori, widely known as Odo Broni, as Daddy Lumba’s wife. The two reportedly lived together for over 15 years and had six children.
Regarding the musician’s estate, the lawyers clarified that all his properties form part of his estate and will be jointly managed by the family and his children to ensure fairness. They warned that no one should interfere with the properties until proper legal procedures are completed.
The statement further revealed that Baba Jamal & Associates holds specific instructions left by Daddy Lumba before his death, which will guide the family in carrying out his wishes regarding both the funeral and the estate.
The Fosu Royal Family urged calm, calling on all parties including Akosua Serwah Fosu to engage peacefully to ensure a dignified and befitting farewell for the music legend.
