Kofi Kinaata Disappointed After Losing Record of the Year at TGMA 2025

Ghanaian highlife sensation, Kofi Kinaata, has expressed his disappointment after missing out on the Record of the Year award at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA 2025).

Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy today, the Takoradi-born musician, known in real life as Martin King Arthur, said he was heartbroken his hit single “Auntie Ama” didn’t win, despite the hard work he put into creating it.

“My song Auntie Ama should have won Record of the Year at TGMA 2025. I put in a lot of work to make that song. I was disappointed I lost it to someone else,” Kinaata stated.

The multiple award-winning artist added that he didn’t expect such a decision from TGMA, a scheme he believes should know better when it comes to rewarding true musical excellence.

“I didn’t expect TGMA a scheme that should know better to let this happen,” he added.

Auntie Ama has received massive praise for its storytelling, rich highlife instrumentation, and cultural value making it one of the standout records of the year.

Though clearly disappointed, Kinaata remained composed and thanked his fans for their support, promising to keep delivering music with substance and originality.
